DOn’t pull the roots out if you can help it, need to leave them for regrowth, otherwise your condemning yourself after a few years.. that is to say if your staying in one area for an extended time.. otherwise it’s curtesy for the plants.

Cool little shelter !!!, Here is another old book i think that you would like… “shelters, shacks, and shanties” , also by Daniel Beard, it was originally written in 1914. (again… i think there may be free versions of it online ).

I like this. Most of the time I see videos like this, they use leaves. Well we don’t have a lot of leaves most of the time. Grass is the best choice here. Thanks. Can’t wait to watch the rest of your videos.

I think even if somebody has a way to make a permanent shelter, that could still come in handy as insulation for winter. Like if you line the walls inside with it? I would! It even looks nice! :)

Hey Tim, I like your videos better than anyone else because they are from the same state as me, I’m Cherokee Indian and live in Tulsa county Oklahoma, I go out to my grandmothers house and there is tons of wildlife out there, are you in southwest Oklahoma or what, because I haven’t seen sand up here lol. Thanks, appreciate your time spent on these videos really enjoy them.

Tim, your grass shelter uses the same principle as the South American palm frond palapas. As the rain follows the individual stems, most water that drips through mid stem gets caught in the next layer, then the next, until it reaches the ground. The small shelter is ideal, as it aids in retaining your body warmth. The natural camouflage of this ghillie shelter is a plus, could come in handy some day soon. Cool down to earth narration, too. Thanks for taking the time to produce this video.

@Tmdkiller Nothing this natural is absolutely watertight, but it looks like if the grass is stuffed tightly enough, it’ll keep out most rain (although a good storm would probably go through it a bit). If big trees are around, stripping off big pieces of bark to lay on top can also help with waterproofing, and of course where you set up the shelter is key. If you set it up under some tree cover, most rain won’t even hit the shelter.
